Punjab Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh has directed the irrigation department staff and local administration of Ganda Singh Wala (Kasur) to expedite relief work to resolve the problems of flood hit people. He issued these directives while chairing a meeting to review the flood situation here on Wednesday.
During the departmental briefing, it was told to the Minister that 42,000 cusec flood water passed through river Sutluj, which has now reduced to 24,000 cusecs. It was also said that water level might decreased by tomorrow if there would be no more rain. It was also said that all the irrigation installations in Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar and Vehari were secured. The minister directed the irrigation department officials to be ready for any emergency and make effective monitoring and patrolling of canal system.
