Dengue is public health problem and this threat could be overcome through people's co-operation. Masses should ensure that there is no stranded water in room coolers, wash rooms, tubs or their plants pots moreover insect killer spray be under taken in houses and rooms so that this disease could be eliminated.
This was disclosed by EDO Health Lahore Dr Umer Farooq Baloch while talking to reporters. DG Health Punjab Dr Aslam Chaudhry was also present on the occasion. As many as 87 cases of dengue have been registered from January this year and the claim that dengue has become an epidemic is contrary to facts, he added. He said that Health, Wasa, Solid Waste Management, horticulture and people will have to work collectively to control dengue.
He stated that Health Department was endeavouring a lot through health education and so far 0.6 million pamphlets have been distributed while fogging and spray campaign is also in full swing. On this occasion Director General Health Dr Muhammad Aslam Malik said that print and electronic media was playing vital role in creating awareness regarding preventive measures on dengue issue. He stressed on media to present true picture and refrain from creating unnecessary danger about dengue.
