Senior leader Dr Farooq Sattar of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Thursday met US Ambassador Cameron Munter and discussed the Karachi unrest. No details of the meeting, which was held at the US Embassy, were released both by MQM and the embassy. The US Embassy only confirmed the meeting but declined to give further details. "I can confirm that they met on Thursday", said Siobhan Oat-Judge, Acting spokesperson of the US embassy.
Sources said that they discussed the unrest in Karachi that has claimed 41 lives in last 24 hours. MQM's leader Dr Farooq Sattar and spokesman Wasay Jalil were not available for their comments despite repeated attempts on their cell phones.
