Over 260 road accidents have been reported in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi during the first fifteen days of Ramazan, said spokesperson of Rescue 1122 here on Thursday. The District Emergency Officer (DEO), Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi reviewed the data of traffic accidents occurred in the first fifteen days of Ramazan and compared it with the accidents occurred during previous months, the spokesperson said.
The DEO said that the control room had registered 260 accidents during the first 15 days of Ramazan, which is high as compared to the same period of the last month. The data revealed that most of the road accidents occurred at the time of 'Iftar' due to over-speeding and violation of traffic rules, especially crossing road when the signal is red, he added. The DEO official has appealed the citizens to show patience during the holy month of Ramazan and asked the people to drive carefully and follow traffic rules.
