The Karachi Port handled 229,278 tonnes of cargo including 180,013 tonnes of import cargo, 49,265 tonnes of export cargo and 5,381 loaded & empty containers during last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 180,013 tonnes comprised of 87,388 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3 tonne of general cargo; 45,717 tonnes of bulk cargo: 571 tonnes of MAP; 359 tonnes of wheat; 42,313 tonnes of coal; 2,474 tonnes of fertiliser and 46,905 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 49,265 tonnes comprised of 42,325 tonnes of containerised cargo; 760 tonnes of general cargo; 4,230 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Ten ships namely YM Asia, Emirates Kanako, Kota Azam, Wan Hai-605, Lara Rickmers, Baltic Cruiser, Nizar-M, Gem of Dahej, Alliance Norfolk and Lodestar Genesis with five container ships, talcum powder carrier, wheat carrier, naphtha ship, vehicles carrier and chemicals carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Seven vessels viz Wan Hai-605, YM Fuzhou, MOL Bravery, Lodestar Genesis, Atlantic Frontier, MT Quetta and Royal Peridot carrying three container ships, two oil tankers, crude oil tanker and ethanol carrier respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely OOCL Dalian, Courage and Royal Peridot carrying container ship, vehicles carrier and ethanol carrier expected to sail on Monday, while five ships namely MY Fuzhou, MOL Bravery, MT Quetta, Atlantic Frontier and Yang Hai carrying two container ships, two oil tankers and coal carrier respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
Three vessels viz Grace, Hanjin Monaco and Fu Yuan Shan with palm oil tanker, container ship and general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Monday, while four vessels viz Hyundai Discovery, APL Pearl, Gien Canyon Bridge and Sorrele carrying three container ships and diesel oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo of 6,579 tonnes includes containerised cargo. Four ships namely CV Maersk Carolina, MV Tycoon-II, MV Afamia and MT SC Haikali sailed out to sea during last 24 hours. A total number of five vessels CV Maersk Carolina, MV Tycoon-II, MV Afamia, MV Gera Simos and MT SC Haikali are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, canola seeds and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Six ships namely New Challenger, Remi, Indradi, MSC Magali, MSC Sierra-II and Ioanthi carrying edible oil, containers and urea respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz MSC Magali, MSC Sierra-II, Indradi and Ioanthi carrying containers, edible oil and urea are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal (MW-3) respectively on Monday.
