Working at private clinics: health department to take disciplinary action against doctors
Secretary Health Punjab, Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan has said the government has directed all the Divisional Commissioners to point out the doctors of government hospitals involved in private practice during office hours in their jurisdiction and send a report to the Health Department for taking disciplinary action against them.
Presiding over a meeting to review the performance of District and Tehsil Headquarters hospitals and health centres of District Okara here on Wednesday, he called for explanation of Medical Superintendents of Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, Dipalpur, Hawli Lakha and DHQ Hospital South City Okara on their poor performance.
Additional Secretary (Establishment) Dawood Khan Bareach, Additional Secretary (Technical) Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Slahria, Additional Secretary (Admn) Khurshid Zaidi, Director General Health Punjab Dr Aslam Chaudhry, Deputy Director Saleha Saeed and EDO Health Okara were present. He warned that if the performance would not be improved, strict disciplinary action will be taken against the responsible officers.
The secretary health directed that senior citizens and disabled persons coming to the hospitals should be given VIP treatment. The secretary health directed the department that life saving defibrillator machines must be provided to all District and Tehsil Headquarters hospitals of the province. He also directed the DG Health to take immediate steps for this purpose.
