The Punjab Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Dairy Development Malik Ahmed Ali has directed the high ups of the provincial livestock department to submit comprehensive proposals for the improvement of livestock farms in Punjab.
Addressing a meeting of Livestock Department, he said that livestock plays a vital role in national development, therefore, all officers and staff of department should work hard to promote livestock. During the meeting a number of proposals were discussed to review the lease rules of livestock farms.
Malik Ahmad Ali said that suitable amendments are being made in lease rules. It was informed to the participants that there are 22 livestock farms in Punjab and research is being carried out on various breeds of buffalo, cattle, sheep, goat and camel. It was also told that department has issued 3203 breeding bulls worth billion of rupees to public and private sectors moreover 2110 million semen doses are being produced annually for genetic improvement of local livestock breeds.
