A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) delegation led by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is likely to visit Karachi today (Thursday) and meet Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad as well as other Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders, it is learnt.
According to the sources, The PML-N delegation comprises Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Pervez Rashid, Pervez Malik, Sardar Mehatab Ahmed Khan Abbasi, Abdul Manzoor Baloch, Mushahidullah and others. It is first visit of PML-N leaders after brutal killing of innocent people in Karachi. The sources said that the PML-N delegation would visit Karachi as a goodwill gesture and to express sympathy and solidarity with the people of Karachi.
In a step forward to shun past differences, both the parties principally decided to join hands for peace in Karachi as well as public issues within the domain of the Constitution. The two past rivals in the first formal interaction, the venue of which was earlier kept secret exchanged views on mutual affairs and also invited each other to visit their headquarters.
When contacted Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan of PML-N confirmed and told Business Recorder that Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif would lead the delegation. He said that some members of the delegation already have reached Karachi. He said that the delegation would hold meetings with the people of Karachi, including Chamber of Commerce, traders and industrialists. He said that it may be possible the delegation to meet with MQM leaders for peace and discuss the law and order situation in Karachi.
