Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital, Professor Dr Tariq Salah-ud-din has said that patients suffering from dengue fever are being treated with special care while weekly offs of the staff of pathology laboratory have been cancelled for preparation of immediate reports.
A high level committee to closely monitor the treatment of dengue fever patients has been constituted while the doctors and paramedical staff has been realise that negligence are lethargy regarding dengue patients will not be tolerated. Professor Dr Tariq Salah-ud-din said this while presiding over a meeting of hospital administration here today. He said that number of counters, dealing with dengue patients at emergency ward, have been increased while all possible measures were being taken to facilitate the dengue patients. A public address system has been installed in emergency ward to keep the patients and their attendants aware about the disease.
He directed to increase the number of staff nurses and student nurses in emergency as well as medical wards. He also directed the Medical Superintendent to arrange banners and pamphlets in connection with creating awareness about dengue fever. He said that sufficient quantity of platelets and blood is available in the hospital blood bank. He stressed the administration to ensure the supply of medicines, even if costly, and diagnostic facilities in the hospitals round the clock.
Moreover, sanitary inspector must be very careful about the cleanliness during all the three shifts, he added. He also asked the MS to contact EDO Health and manage a spray in the hospital premises. He said that dengue is a curable disease. Public should not be afraid of dengue virus, however they should necessarily adopt preventive measures. He said that treatment facilities against dengue fever have been extended to hospitals all over the province on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab.
