A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday dismissed bail applications of nine accused involved in Sialkot brothers lynching case. The accused Sarfraz Iqbal, Amin, Jamshed, Akram, Hasan Raza, Asghar, Rashid and Awais approached the court for bail on plea that other accused have been granted bail. They also pleaded that no direct witness accepted video clips that are being used against them.
The prosecutor opposing the applicants contended that the applicants are directly involved in the case. He said that the only police officials are allowed bail on the ground that they were not directly involved in murder of two brothers. They were facing the charges of not performing their duties properly as a result of which people killed two brothers in their presence.
The trial of the case is about to conclude as all the witnesses have been recorded hence at this stage they should not be allowed bail. The court inclining with the prosecutor rejected the bail applications of all the nine accused. An uncontrolled and desperate mob had killed two brothers Mughees and Muneeb in the presence of the police officials in Sialkot. Many police officers and officials besides others were booked and arrested following a case registered on the directions of high authorities of the province.
