Another lawyer of Sindh High Court was targeted at Zamzama Commercial Street in the limits of Clifton police station on Thursday. According to police, the victim Mohammad Murtaza Chinoy, 32, son of Nazeer, was gunned down by two armed assailants when he was sitting in his office located at commercial street-9 Zamzama, Clifton. They said the victim was hit by two bullets and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities. SHO Rao Rafiq said the victim, a resident of Bath Island Clifton, was unmarried and mostly represents corporate cases. He said the police recovered two empty shells of 30 bore pistol from the spot.
He said the eyewitness in his statement said the culprits after exchanging hot words with the victim fired multiple shots on him. Resultantly, he died on the spot while the culprits managed to flee in leaps and bounds. He said that it was yet to be ascertained either it was targeted murder or he lost his life over resistance in robbery bid as some official papers of the victim are also missing from his office. He said the case 202/11 was registered against unidentified shooters on the complaint of victim's relative Salman.
Meanwhile, President Karachi Bar Council Mohammad Aqil advocate condemned the said killing and demanded the government to take responsible persons to task at earliest. Later, vice-chairman Sindh Bar Council Iftikhar Javed Qazi has announced boycott of all court proceedings across Sindh on Friday. He said the government has failed to evolve comprehensive strategy to cope with this targeted killings menace as around 19 advocates were martyred in ongoing year.
A bullet-riddled body of a man stuffed in a gunny bag was found near Malir River in the limits of Steel Town police station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained, while police found a gunny bag body from the bushes of Malir River. Police said the body, which was three-day old, had several torture marks. Later, the body was shifted to JPMC for legal formalities and later moved to Edhi Morgue till identification. Meanwhile, a case was registered against unidentified men on the complaint of state.
