The Jamaat-e-Islami Chief, Syed Munawar Hasan, said that Karachi situation could be improved only by removing the Sindh Governor, forcing the MQM to sit on the opposition benches in the Sindh Assembly, putting behind the bars all law breakers and starting their trial in the law courts. He was replying to questions at the concluding ceremony of the Daura-e-Quran organised by the JI women wing on Thursday.
While addressing the ceremony, Syed Munawar Hasan said that JI fully shared the grief and worries of the Karachi people and is observing 'Karachi Solidarity Day' tomorrow, Juma Tul Wida, to assure the Karachi people that they are not alone and the whole nation stood with them in their hour of trial. He was sure that the Solidarity Day would prove to be the first drop of rain.
In reply to another question, Syed Munawar Hasan said that the JI would participate in the next elections in a big way and it is in touch with all other parties and its options are open. However, the decision in regard to electoral alliance or seat adjustment would be made at the time of elections.
He said that the coalition government formed after the February 2008 elections has been a total failure as it has added to the problems of the masses instead of providing them any relief. Unending price hike, prolonged load shedding and high unemployment besides lawlessness have made the life of the people miserable while the country's economy is on the verge of ruin. The rulers have gone too far in the US slavery. In Karachi, he said, the game of blood and fire is continuing and all the three parties in the Sindh ruling alliance are responsible for it.
He said the law and order all over the country are grim as there is marked increase in murders, dacoities, loot and plunder. In the Punjab capital, there are over two dozen incidents of dacoities every day. The general public is insecure as the entire security force has been deployed for the security of the rulers. Lakhs of people affected by the last year's floods are without shelter even today.
The JI chief said that the electorate in the country must be made to understand at the time of the elections that the people and the parties they have been voting time and again have ditched them and multiplied their miseries. Therefore, they should be wise enough to change their voting pattern next time.
