A total of 8 out of 1000 dengue patients were found with a deficit of platelets in a CBC test at the Services Hospital on Thursday. Dr Muhammad Jawed, Medical Superintendent, told Business Recorder two latest CBC machines have been installed in the emergency ward to confront the rising fear of dengue fever among people.
These CBC machines can examine the amount of platelets in blood within 3-5 minutes, he added. According to him, every fever could not be dengue against the fear being carried by the people in general. However, he stressed that the people should ensure sprays in their surrounding plants and damp water for controlling mosquito carrying dengue virus. He said free medical aid has been provided with to all dengue patients on the direction of the Punjab government. The weekly offs have been cancelled of laboratory workers as well as the nurses and paramedical staff. In addition, he said, the officials at the dengue counter in emergency ward remain alert 24/7 for the public facility and guidance.
According to medical history, the mosquito of dengue was originated from Africa in 1775 and it was dubbed as New Worlds' Mosquito. Dengue fever spread by the biting of specific mosquito. Telling about the symptoms of the dengue fever he said that high fever up to 103-104 degree Celsius, along with severe pain in the whole body, stiffness in legs and weakness are major symptoms of dengue fever. There are chances of haemorrhage and bleeding from nose and ears in some cases if the symptoms get intensify, he added.
