Non-payment to company: LHC summons secretary food department

Lahore High Court here Thursday summoned secretary food department in a contempt of court petition for not making payment of outstanding amount to a company despite a court order. The petitioner, Rashid & Sons through its counsel contended that the company had supplied tents of rupees 100 million to the food department but their money was not returned.
The company moved the court, which ordered the department to immediately pay Rs 30 million to petitioner while the dispute regarding remaining amount would be settled later on. The petitioner said food department had not paid the money despite the court order which tantamount to contempt of court. He prayed to the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the officials of food department and punish them under the law.
