The Supreme Court (SC) disposed of 31 identical petitions filed by employees of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) for the restoration of their service against a judgement of Federal Service Tribunal (FST) and held that civil servants could only file appeal in FST. A two-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case.
It is worth mentioning that Applicability of 1973 Rules as regards the terms and conditions of service of the employees of NBP was the major question throughout the proceeding of the case in the apex court.
