Elders of Koki Khel tribe of Khyber Agency have demanded for stoppage of illegal construction work on their land at Shakas area and called for immediate implementation of Lafi Graft Accord of 1912 to resolve longstanding dispute between district government and the tribe.
Speaking at a news conference at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Friday, Barkatullah Afridi, a tribal elder hailing from Koki Khel tribe of Khyber Agency said that the Lafi Graft award was a panacea to all ills, as mega project like Regi Model Town scheme and other issues would be resolved after its implementation. He said that the issue had resolved under the Lafi Graft accord in 1912, but the provincial government was creating hurdles in its implementation.
According to the agreement, he said that the district government and Koki Khel tribe had reached a settlement to construct boundary wall under the 1912 Lafi Graft Accord. He explained that the lands had demarcated and constructed pillars under the agreement, which was also proven in the official record.
He said that the demarcation records were available with the elders of Koki khel tribe. He alleged that when the tribesmen adopted peaceful ways for solution of the issue, the government threatened them to launch an operation against them. He recalled that the then Governor of the province, Naseerullah Khan Babar had also ratified boundary walls as per the Lafi Graft accord and issued directives to board of Revenue, Peshawar to maintain its record as per the agreement 1912, but the orders were ignored.
Despite the all proof and official evidences, he accused that the provincial government had created hurdles in implementation of accord to hide Provincial Development Authority's wrong development planning, which was not solution of the issue. He said that the dispute would create unrest over the growing controversy between provincial government and Koki Khel tribe. He said that the total construction area of Regi Lalma model town wasn't under the jurisdiction of district Peshawar. He demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor Barrister Masood Kasuser to play his due role for amicable resolution of the issue.
