Local trading body has demanded of the Federal Ministry of Commerce & Industry to nominate an independent administrator to free Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) from organised mafia and its inheritance policies and called for restoration of its license to pave way for giving a proper name to it.
Speaking at a news conference, here at Peshawar Press Club on Sunday president Al-Khidmat Tajraan, Abdul Qader said that the SCCI is being occupied by an organised inheritance group, who are doing nothing for welfare of business community. Flanked by Mamor Khan, Nasir Khan Musazai, Imdadullah, Khawaja Muhammad Abdullah, and Tariq Hadi Khalil, he said that the SCCI has no legal status following cancellation of its licence by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. He added that the chamber election process is also illegal despite the fact it announced elections schedule.
He said the chamber name had been withdrawn following the replacement of Province name as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, because of which Ministry of Commerce & Industry also cancelled its license.
Mamor Khan, a trader on the occasion said they had carried out an agitation movement against the renaming of the chamber from last eight years, saying that the tussle is still going on regarding the renaming issue.
He accused that the present chamber body is following double standard and inheritance policy. He said that the chamber was not serving for betterment and welfare of business community, while promoting a separate agenda under the inheritance policies.
To end the monopoly of certain group in the chamber, Abdul Qader, said that Al-Khidam Tajraan had decided that it is going to participate in the chamber elections as a new group. Giving the panel members names, he said that Nasir Khan Musazia from Khyber Business Form corporate group, while Imdad Khan nominated as vice president. Similarly, he said that Tariq Hadi has nominated as chairman for associate elections. He demanded of the government to make the chamber for welfare of business community instead of hub of inheritance policies. He also demanded of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to nominate an independent administrator for the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry, who could work out for the welfare of business community.
