Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell-DEC of the Model Customs Collectorate (Preventive), Karachi Airport recovered and seized about 6kg fine quality heroin from the possession of an outgoing passenger.
According to details, the Additional Collector of Customs, Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, Manzoor Hussain Memon had directed the staff to be extra cautious for frustrating any such attempts. The efforts proved fruitful and the Customs staff intercepted an Afghan born Dutch passenger Muhammad Asim Ahmadi when he reached Jinnah Terminal to board PIA flight PK783 for Toronto. He was carrying different picture frames, embroidered hair clips and curtain knobs kept mixed with personal belongings in his two suitcases.
However, examination of the said picture frames, hair clips and curtain knobs revealed that the passenger has very smartly used these articles for drug concealment with the modality that heroin was molded into different shapes that were made parts of above articles. In this way the Customs staff recovered about 6kg heroin so concealed. Consequent upon recovery and seizure of contraband narcotics, the accused passenger has been arrested.-PR
