In this month of Ramazan when commodities wholesale markets releases supplied a number of rise and fall beggared description. The opening day was closed on account of youm-e-Hazrat Ali (RA). The second day was mourning day on disturbed condition of Karachi where killing and such grim action like Bhatta Khori is rampant.
On Wednesday fluctuations in wholesale markets could be counted. However, guwar Sindh and Punjab rose by Rs 100 to Rs 6600 and Rs 6700. Gur low type was unchanged and was quoted at Rs 7000, while the other type was higher by Rs 300 to Rs 8700, Irri 6 Sindh low type was unchanged at Rs 3700, while the other type lost Rs 25 to Rs 3725, cottonseed oil-cake with bag in Sindh low type conceded Rs 70 to Rs 1100, while the other variety was down by Rs 200 to Rs 1170.
On Thursday gram Australia No. 1 rose by Rs 50 to Rs 4850 and Rs 5050, gram dal Australia No. 1 was quoted at Rs 5900, while the other type rose by Rs 10 to Rs 6100, grams 50 x 50 rose by Rs 100 to Rs 5500 and Rs 5700, Yellow peas Canada low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4000, while the better type was quoted at Rs 4100, yellow peas dal Canada lost sharply by Rs 350 to Rs 400 to Rs 4050 and Rs 4200, cottonseed oilcake low type was quoted at Rs 1100, while the other type gained Rs 5 to Rs 1180.
On Jodia Bazaar Kirana items (per 40-kg), black pepper Singapore rose by Rs 2500 to Rs 25000, black pepper Ceylon rose by Rs 3000 to Rs 25000, black paper Brazil rose by Rs 5000 to Rs 28000, mace gained Rs 4000 to Rs 108,000, nutmeg up Rs 4000 to Rs 40000, big cardamom shed Rs 7500 to Rs 85000 cloves gained Rs 3000 to Rs 56000, copra Ceylon shed Rs 100 to Rs 7200, Copra India down Rs 600 to Rs 7000, dry ginger China rose by Rs 500 to Rs 15200, sago lost Rs 50 to Rs 2950 and star aniseed up Rs 2000 to Rs 17,000.
On Friday rates were unmoved on the wholesale grain and seed market as all participants were busy in preparations for offering Juma-tul-vida prayers.
On Saturday lean business was seen, as buyers kept to the sidelines due to lack of interest. Cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low type gained Rs 10 to Rs 1160, however, shed the same amount. Cereal, grams and rice sectors were unmoved in process of trading.
