The Lahore High Court has relaxed marks limit for partaking in the exams of assistant and district attorneys from 50 percent to 45 percent. The court also extended the date of the exam to September 10 next. The court passed these orders in a petition filed by Jhang Sher Bohadar Qadri.
The petitioner contended that the 50 percent marks limit for the exams of attorneys is discriminatory. He said 50 percent marks limit is neither for civil judges nor for the vacancies for the government departments. He, therefore, prayed to the court to declare the condition of 50 percent marks and illegal and discriminatory and allowed the petitioner to join the exam to be held on August 29. The court after hearing the petitioner counsel at length passed the orders accordingly and issued the notices to the respondents Chief Secretary, Secretary Services and others and directed them to submit their reply till September 10.
