National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) kicked off the revalidation campaign of old arms licences and 158 designated centers have started receiving applications from all over Pakistan. The revalidation process for old arms licenses issued by Interior Ministry starts on Monday and will continue till September 30, Nadra sources said while talking to this scribe on Monday.
Registration Centers of Nadra across the country have started receiving the applications for revalidation of arms licenses which is aimed at ensuring transparency and authenticity of arms licenses, they said, adding that separate counters were set up in designated Nadra centers to avoid inconvenience. Nadra will receive applications and after data processing and biometric data entry the applications will be sent to Interior Ministry for final formal approval of forms.
Nadra has publicised the list of 158 centers designated centers across the country at every district to facilitate the applicants seeking revalidation, they said. They said that the process of revalidation of arms licenses will provide transparency and authenticity of arms license and proper data will be made available to the Ministry of Interior. Nadra possesses a state-of-the-art infrastructure consisting of centers equipped with modern technology and well-trained and qualified manpower, having capability and capacity to develop and manage Arms License Management System, they said.
It is pertinent to note that Nadra will process arms licenses issued by Ministry of Interior however the approval of each arms license application is the sole discretion of the Ministry. Nadra will only process those applications which have the approval of the Ministry.
Nadra would verify the CNICs from its database to check the genuineness of an applicant while the applicant's credentials would also be checked by different law enforcement agencies, the spokesperson said, adding that the Card Renewal fee of Rs 1100/- for PB (Prohibited Bore) License and Rs 600/- for NPB (Non Prohibited Bore) license will be charged along with any payable in respect of Government license renewal fee due. The original booklet will be retained by NADRA and all the original booklets will be forwarded to the Ministry of Interior for post verification, they said.
