The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has received over and above 24,500 returns on new format of sales tax and federal excise notified on August 24, 2011. It is learnt that the officers of FBR Inland Revenue Wing and Pakistan Revenue Automaton Limited (PRAL) are promptly responding to the queries of the taxpayers and placing the answers of the queries in the 'Frequently asked Questions' at the website of the FBR.
This response on around 25,000 new returns format by the taxpayers is quite appreciable. Keeping in view, the enthusiasm of the taxpayers in filing the returns day and night during the public holidays, FBR has advised the PRAL to keep the Call Centres operative round the clock during Eid holidays (except the Eid day). This arrangement will facilitate the taxpayers in filing the returns in a timely manner and it is hoped that all returns due for the month of July 2011 would be filed by September 10 which is the extended date notified by the FBR, sources added.
