Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Monday claimed to have detained over 120 suspects including four target killers and several political workers in different search operations at various parts of the metropolis. According to police sources, the Godhra search operation was triggered after an armed clash between two groups that left eight persons including an unknown woman killed. They said the LEAs detained 100 suspects during overnight search operation.
They said some 64 persons were released after formal interrogation while remaining 36 suspects, including political workers were transported to unknown place for further investigation. Meanwhile, the LEAs also claimed to have arrested four target killers in separate search operations at Pahar Ganj, North Nazimabad, Jahanabad, Al-Rahim Goth and Dakkhana, Liaquatabad No 6. Some 36 weapons including 12 TT pistols, two 7MM, one Triple-2, one 12 bore, four shotguns, four 9MM, nine 30 bore, one revolver, four bikes and 634 live rounds were also recovered during these search operations.
Three alleged target killers namely Mursaleen alias Kala Munna, Kashif alias Khanwar and Shakeel were arrested from Liaquatabad while Junaid was nabbed at Jamsheed Quarter area. The accused Junaid during initial course of investigation admitted to have murdered a person namely Tabzeel alias Ashfaq. The Sindh Rangers in its official statement said some 280 suspects were detained during search operations that started from August 23 at various parts of the metropolis. The statement said the search operations were being carried out on intelligence information. However, the sources claimed that the LEAs have detained 653 suspects including 32 target killers from 170 places of the city and recovered over 160 weapons from their possession.
