Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will hold an inquiry into the total number of arms licenses issued by the ministry of interior since 2000 and it would be based on the record of National Bank of Pakistan which is authorised to collect challans and fee deposits.
This decision was made in a high level meeting held here at the interior ministry chaired by Minister for Interior, A. Rehman Malik on Monday. The meeting decided that National Database and Regulatory Authority (Nadra) shall revalidate all arms licenses issued by Ministry of Interior as well as the provincial governments with immediate effect. Rs 1,100 will be charged for prohibited bore arms and Rs 600 would be charged for non-prohibited bore licenses revalidation charges. It was also decided that all applications for issuance of arms licenses will be received at all local Nadra offices that shall issue arms licenses from the same counter. Minister for Interior will inaugurate distribution of arms licenses at Islamabad Nadra office on September 22.
The Minister for Interior also directed the Printing Corporation of Pakistan to provide complete record of total number of copies of arms licenses printed by Printing Corporation of Pakistan and issued to Federal and Provincial Governments since 1947 onwards.
It was decided to try Fake Arms License holders under section 420 PPC and other fraud and cheating related laws. Nadra was also instructed to computerise employee's record of Islamabad Capital Territory Police. Minister of Interior also instructed the ministry to approach Establishment Division for computerisation of all federal government employees' data through Nadra.
The meeting directed that foreigners' registration, their entry and exit should be consolidated in the national database and for this purpose, Nadra will develop a software. It was decided that foreigners shall get exit certificates from the local police authorities, otherwise they may be stopped from leaving the country.
