The Karachi Port handled 121,448 tonnes of cargo including 97,596 tonnes of import cargo, 23,852 tonnes of export cargo and 5,392 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 97,596 tonnes comprised of 31,206 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,266 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,502 tonnes of wheat; 4,764 tonnes of fertiliser and 39,472 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,852 tonnes comprised of 20,565 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5 tonnes of general cargo; 1,082 tonnes of cement and 21,652 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Four ships namely YM Colombo, Bux Melody, Wan Hai-603 and DL Diamond with three container ships and chemicals carrier sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Three vessels viz Hyundai Confidance, Wan Hai-603 and MT Karachi carrying two container ships and oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. A container ship namely MOL Success expected to sail on Tuesday, while two ships namely MT Karachi and Nizar-M carrying oil tanker and wheat carrier respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
A container vessel viz APL Agate due to arrive on Tuesday, while six vessels viz Jakarta Express, YM Fuzhou, Patriotic, Liberty Promise, Pacific Friend and An Xin Jiang carrying two container ships, MEG carrier, vehicles carrier and two general cargo ships respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 10,342 tonnes includes 2,854 tonnes of edible oil; 2,150 tonnes of urea and 5,338 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 10,674 tonnes includes 6,764 tonnes of cement and 3,910 tonnes of containerised cargo. A container ship namely CV Kaethe Rickmer sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely MT Chemroad Quest carrying edible oil is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of five vessels CV Kaethe Rickmer, MV Sapphire-II, MV Loanthi, MV Tycon-II and MT Chemroad Quest are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, urea and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely New Challenge, Al-Salam-II, Agility, Mohammad Prince and CGM Mozart carrying diesel oil, edible oil, cement and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A container vessel viz CV CGM Mozart expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Tuesday.
