Young Doctors Association (YDA) Multan Chapter has demanded the Punjab government to establish a provincial medical council under the PMDC to regulate private medical colleges in the province.
According to a handout issued on Friday, doctors further added that in neighbouring countries there were state medical councils established under the national medical council to regulate the medical education of their respective provinces so that exploitation of poor students by private medical colleges could be prevented.
Young Doctors Association (YDA) Pakistan office bearers Dr Mazhar Chaudhry, Dr Ali Ben Saeed, Dr Jamil Malik, Dr Khaliq Sanawan and Dr Noman Ali, while addressing a press conference here on Friday, said Punjab Government was not renewing the contract of Professor Dr Haroon Aziz Babar inspite of the High Court orders. They further demanded that a competent senior doctor be appointed at as Health Department additional secretary, as the previous additional secretary had been suspended by the Punjab Chief Minister.
