Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik has said that during operations in Karachi, paramilitary forces have arrested around 42 accused involved in targeted killings, extortion and other crimes.
Talking at a ceremony regarding the National Day of Republic of Tajikistan, the minister said that all the political parties approached him and assured their full support in arresting those who were responsible for targeted killings and unrest in Karachi.
He said that provincial government of Sindh was fully capable of handling the law and order situation in Sindh. Being part of federal government, he said they had been sharing information with provincial administration. He said he had lodged protest with Afghanistan government and UNHCR against cross boarder filtration of militants into Pakistan and involvement of Afghan nationals in suicide attack in Quetta, killing at least 23 people and wounding 52.
He said the preliminary investigation has revealed that suicide bombers were Afghan nationals. The minister asked the UN Refugees Organisation to take notice of the growing incidents of cross boarder infiltration and attacked on armed personals and innocents citizens.
"We have been hosting the Afghan refugees for last 20 years but in return they are attacking our innocent citizens and check posts at boarder," he said. He warned the Afghan government to take concrete steps to stop cross boarder infiltration into Pakistan. Minister for Interior congratulated the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Pakistan Dr Zubaydillo N. Zubaydov on the 20th anniversary of Independence Day of the country. The embassy has arranged a reception at this important and festive occasion. The children sang the anthems of both the countries. Tajik dishes were served to the diplomats, dignitaries, ministers and media persons.
