Around 23 more people lost their lives in different areas of the province due to heavy rains during the past twelve days. The monsoon rains started in Sindh from August 29th and almost 165 people have lost their lives so far. According to sources in Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), continued rains caused havoc and many villages inundated in district Nawabshah.
More than 70 Kacha houses of villages of Taulka Khairpur Nathan Shah and Mehar of Dadu district are badly affected due to continuous rains. Water level in Manchhar Lake is increasing day by day due to flow of rainwater. The water level in Manchhar lake reached 12.9 feet.
Thousands of rain-affected people in many areas are facing huge problems for reaching safer areas due to badly affected roads. The situation is very poor in Badin as five villages inundated while in Khairpur Mir's district 30 villages became inundated. More than 50 villages inundated in Thatta and Ghotki districts.
Similarly, people of Sanghar district are also facing a lot of problems due to heavy rains. Thousands of rain-affected people have shifted in camps established by provincial government and local NGOs. Thousands of people in Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Jamshoro and other areas are also facing a lot of problems due to heavy downpour.
