Nine people were killed and over 20 injured when a passenger bus rear-ended a cement truck in eastern China Sunday, in the latest serious road accident to hit the nation, state press reported. The accident occurred on a highway in Anhui province when the bus rammed into the truck as it headed toward the city of Maanshan, China Central Television said.
Footage showed a badly mangled bus as rescuers attended the injured in what appeared to be rainy weather. No other details were immediately available.
China's roads are among the world's most dangerous, with traffic laws and safety widely flouted.
