Over a dozen suspects were taken into custody by the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in separate raids at various parts of the metropolis here on Monday. According to sources, the LEAs had arrested Hubul Bangali, who was said to be a worker of Sunni Tehreek after brief encounter at Khwaja Ajmeer Nagri sector 5A-1 while the accused Arshad K-2 escaped under the cover of heavy gunshots.
They said the detained persons during initial course of investigation confessed to have murdered three workers of banned outfit Sipah Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) during recent armed clash. In Pirabad police remits, five suspects namely Jannan Khan, Zarmaluk, Naveed, Babar and Ismail were taken into custody and recovered one Kalashnikov, four TT pistols, several rounds and addictive substance from their possession. They said these detained persons belonged to one of the notorious criminal groups namely Bhaloo group.
Similarly, the law enforcers on a tip-off conducted targeted search operation at Good Luck Apartment located near Maskan roundabout but remained unsuccessful in yielding fruits during said raid. The sources said the LEAs had also arrested Rehan alias Kankata from F.B Area block 5. However, no official has confirmed the said arrest.
Azizabad police also claimed to have arrested two gamblers namely Irfan and Aamir alias Ghosi in separate raid at Bhangoriya Goth while seven more suspects along with heavy weapons were detained from Pioneer Apartment at Abul Aspahani Road.
