Adamjee College bags top three positions: BIEK declares FSC (part-II) pre-medical, general science groups' results
The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Monday announced the results of science (pre-engineering) group and general science group annual examinations 2011. In pre-engineering, the top three positions were clinched by the students of Adamjee Government Science College.
Syed Hasan Murtaza grabbed first position with 998 marks (90.72 percent) out of the total 1100 marks. Muhammad Asad Rizvi clinched second position with 996 marks (90.54 percent) while Syed Muhammad Askar stood third with 994 marks (90.36 percent). As many as 17, 359 male candidates registered and 17, 795 students appeared in the exams. Out of them, 8, 841 candidates were declared successful. The overall passing percentage remained 51.42 percent.
The gazette shows that 6, 271 female students registered of which 6, 211 candidates appeared in the exams. Out of them 3, 330 students passed their exams with overall passing percentage of 53.61 percent. As many as 756 male and 279 female candidates clinched A-One grade, 1, 763 male and 810 female students got A grade and 2, 068 male and 1, 030 female candidates got B grade.
While 2, 554 male and 976 female students passed their exams with C grade, 1, 591 male and 234 female candidates with D grade and 109 male and one female student passed the exams with E grade. It was my dream to top in the exams that has come true by the grace of Allah Almighty Allah, said Syed Hassan Murtaza, the top position holder, who wants to be a CA professional.
Muhammad Asad Rizvi criticised the prevailing law and order situation in city, saying that prevailing lawlessness have directly affected the students and their preparation for exams. The position holders appreciated their teachers. In General Science Group (computer science) girls outshined boys, as they grabbed all the top three positions.
Zainab Parveen of BAMM PECHS Government College for Women clinched first position with 945 marks (85.90 percent) out of the total 1100 marks. The second position was also clinched by the BAMM PECHS Government College for Women, as Faryal Sharf of the college bagged second position with 941 marks (85.54 percent). Zainab Ahmed, student of DA Degree College for Women, Phase VIII, DHA got third position with 938 marks (85.27 percent).
As many as 878 male candidates were registered out of which 868 students appeared in the exams. As many as 279 candidates passed the exams with overall pass percentage of 32.14 percent.
Some 785 female students registered and 779 candidates appeared in the exams while 282 students were declared passed. The overall pass percentage remained 36.2 percent. In General Science Group, only one male and nine female students received A-One grade, 15 male and 38 female candidates A grade and 47 male and 107 female students got B grade while 131 male and 116 female candidates got C grade, 74 male and 11 female students passed their exams with D grade whereas 11 male and one female candidate got E grade in the exams.
Zainab Parveen said violence and class-based system are the main problems of the society. She said she did not take tuition for her exam's preparation. Faryal Sharf said that load shedding remained the major concerns during her studies. She said that she wanted to be a teacher in practical life.
Chairman BIEK Anwar Ahmed Zai gave appreciation certificate to Memon Girls College, F.B. Area, Quaid-e-Azam Higher Secondary School and Iqra Hufza Science Girls College, Block-B, Nazimabad for 100 percent result in Pre-Medical Annual Examination-2011. He said the board has issued show cause notices to 67 government and private colleges for showing poor results in the HSC Part II Pre-Medical group annual examinations. These institutions have been asked to clarify their positions within specified time, he added. Zaid asked the principals to ensure 75 percent attendance by the students.
