The doctors of Pakistan Army have attended 67,181 patients at free medical camps established exclusively to support general public in battle against the raging dengue epidemic. The Para medical staff at 12 free Army medical camps has worked tirelessly in providing succour and solace to the panic stricken common man through much needed counselling on awareness and requisite treatment facility.
During the two-weeks, blood samples of over 52,000 patients have been screened free of cost for diagnosis of any suspected symptoms. While 2,372 confirmed cases and 663 acute patients were provided free treatment at medical camps and Combined Military Hospital Lahore, respectively. Pakistan Army has designated more than 200-bed ward at CMH for free treatment of less privileged civil patients.
Meanwhile a hectic effort is underway by Garrison Headquarters through fumigation and spray drive to uproot the dengue menace in suburban areas of Lahore Cantonment. Over 35 designated teams are working day and night in spraying insecticides in villages, towns and colonies in the outer parameters of Cantt and DHA.
A cleanliness drive by health and sanitation department of Cantonment board is also continuing unabated where choked drains and garbage is being cleared from various areas on war footing.
