Chief Secretary Sindh Muhammad Abbas Raja has called upon officials of HESCO and SEPCO to evolve transparent procedure for preparing electricity bills of Sindh government departments. This he said while presiding over a meeting which was held here on Monday to settle outstanding dues of power companies against different departments.
The meeting was attended among others by the representatives of HESCO, SECPO and concerned officials of Sindh Government. The meeting discussed case to case billing issues and adjusted the amount payable against each department with the mutual consent of the power supply companies' representatives from the year 2002-03 to June 30, 2010. The chief secretary also directed the government departments to ensure payment of their electricity bills every month.
He also directed them to pay outstanding bills as per instalment schedule and submit report to him in this connection on monthly basis. The meeting also formed a committee comprising representatives of Sindh government and power supply companies to settle disputed amount of electricity bills. The participants of the meeting appreciated the efforts of the chief secretary to resolve long-standing issue of outstanding electricity dues.
