National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has asked the people to get their arms licenses issued by the federal interior ministry renewed till September 30. An official said that the authority has designated around 158 centres across the country to entertain applications for conversion of manual arms licenses into the form of computerised cards.
He said that separate counters have been set up at Nadra's swift centres to receive applications from the applicants. He furthered that 24 counters have been set up in Islamabad swift centres, 13 in Multan, 30 in Quetta, 14 in Lahore, 10 in Sargodha, 32 in Peshawar, 11 in Hyderabad, 10 in Sukkur, 13 in Karachi. He added that some centres have been established in other cities under the arms license project.
He said that the interior ministry has fixed September 30 as the last date for submission of applications for conversion of arms licenses, adding that so far no notification of extension of the last date has been issued. Regarding the required documents, he said one will have to bring original Computerised National Identity Card (CNICs) and original license at the time of submission of application forms. The forms are available at the centres as well as on the web-site of the interior ministry. The required documents are two photocopies of each CNIC and manual license along-with two photographs of 1x1 size and two duly filled forms.
