Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour on Monday called on Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Mohammad Umer Daudzai and condemned the assassination of Former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani in Afghanistan. The Minister said that Burhanuddin Rabbani was peace negotiator and a friend with whom Pakistan was working closely on peace efforts.
He said the tragic killing of Burhanuddin was a conspiracy to sabotage the peace efforts in the region. He said Pakistan had always preferred to improve and strengthen its relations with the brotherly country of Afghanistan. "Pakistan attaches great importance to strengthening bonds of friendship and close collaboration with Afghanistan," he maintained.
The Minister said that Burhanuddin wanted long lasting peace and prosperity in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the region as well. Bilour paid tribute to late Burhanuddin and said that his efforts for peace would always be remembered. The Minister conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to Afghan ambassador and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant strength to family members to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.
