The 71st bi-annual free eye camp in Darul Hikmat Darul Shafa Hospital at Darul Ehsan Samundri Road would be started from 1st October 2011 and it would remain operational till 31st October. The target has been fixed to carry out operations of more than 11000 eye patients.
The medical team comprising of 80 eye specialists doctors would extend services during the camp out them 17 doctors would be provided by the health department Punjab and 500 para medical staff would perform voluntarily duty in the camp. It is pertinent to mention that this free eye camp was started in 1976 under the supervision of spiritual leader Abu Anees Sufi Muhammad Barkat Ali Ludhianvi, which is being held regularly twice in a year in the month of March and October.
After the death of Hazrat Abu Anees Muhammad Barkat Ali founder of Darul Ehsan, this free eye camp is being organised under the supervision of Mian Muhammad Shafi and Mian Najibullah, Administrator and Vice Administrator of Darul Ehsan, respectively. The meal/medicines, accommodations, other medical facilities and lens for eyes are also provided to the poor and deserving patients without any cost during the camp.
The management of eye camp informed that 10761 operations of eye patients were carried out during the last eye camp held in March 2011. It is further informed that 3,84,451 eye operations had been conducted during the over all 70 camps, while more than one million eye patients had been examined at outdoor section and 1514 blind persons had got sight after conducting their successful eye operations besides providing them free medical treatment and medicines.
