The Sindh Minister for Fisheries, Zahid Ali Bhurgari, who is also the Chairman of District Relief Committee (DRC) has taken serious notice of the complaints of the rain-affected families about substandard food and constituted two members' committee comprising of Manthar Jatoi and Abdul Karim Buledi to look into matter and resolve the bottlenecks if any and ensure that all the affected persons residing in the relief camps in Hyderabad are getting standard food and other life- saving facilities.
The Sindh Minister Zahid Ali Bhurgari said it while talking to the official media during his visit at different parts of Qasimabad today. He said that an NGO namely Al-Khair is providing food at Sabzi Mandi relief camp while Sellani Trust is providing food to the affected ones at other Relief Camps scattered in the other talukas. He said that both NGOs are doing good job as per expectation and are sincerely working for the welfare of destitute. However, if any misunderstanding or bottleneck is there, the two members' committee would get it resolved and help the NGOs in their noble job.
He said that in addition to that Sindh Government has distributed 30,000 ration bags among affected families till yet. He said that 3,535 tents, 500 mosquito nets have also been distributed among the rain-affected persons. However, the Sindh Minister said that 30,000 more ration bags, 5,000 tents are still needed to meet out the requirements of the affected ones in near future.
The Sindh Minister said that as per directives of the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, a comprehensive plan for de-watering from farmers' land is under consideration. He said that under this plan rainwater up to depth of 4 to 5 feet standing in UC Hosri, Tando Fazal and Serri would be drained out into Khathar Forest for which eight-km long trench/channel would be excavated.
