Time's up: Mehwish Hayat brings anti-harassment movement to Pakistan
After the famous Hollywood #Metoo campaign gained momentum in the country, Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat brought #Timesup campaign to Pakistan too, in a bid to bring an end to any kind of harassment that women face.
Time's up movement ruled the Hollywood red carpet at recently held 75th Golden Globes. The campaign was initiated this year, after the #MeToo campaign in 2017. As part of the campaign, actors and actresses wore all black to the 75th Golden Globe Awards and spoke about sexual harassment and assault.
On the same context, Hayat took to social media and shared her picture wearing black dress to express solidarity with the cause. “It is time for women of the world to stand up for their rights,” the caption reads.
Today, I wear black in solidarity with my industry colleagues in US and push this message to the women of my own homeland,Pakistan. We are no less than men by virtue of our gender. Harassment of any form is totally unacceptable and we will not tolerate it #WhyIWearBlack #timeisup pic.twitter.com/jJL2SmnfhB
