The 67th Formation Commanders' Conference chaired by General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), commenced at General Headquarters on Thursday. The two-day conference is a part of regular meetings and is being attended by corps commanders, principal staff officers and formation commanders.
It has been learnt that the participants were given comprehensive briefings on external and internal security situation in the country. They also dwelt at length on various professional matters. General Kayani expressed his satisfaction over operational preparedness of the army and exhorted field commanders to focus on training of their under command as it is the hallmark of a professional army.
General Kayani appreciated the conduct of ongoing military and stabilisation operations, being undertaken to restore and sustain peace in Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (Fata). The CoAS also appreciated relentless rescue and relief efforts by troops during operation Labbaik 2, in the flood affected areas of Sindh.
