Divergent trend was seen on the money market on Thursday in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee moved down by one paisa in relation to dollar for buying at 86.70 while it maintained its overnight level for selling at 86.74, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: In the fourth Asian trade euro fell, hurt by doubts over whether European leaders will take aggressive steps at a summit this Sunday to ease the region's debt crisis. The euro slid 0.4 percent to $1.3703, dropping toward the bottom of this week's range of roughly between $1.3650 to $1.3900. The single currency fell 0.5 percent versus yen to 105.16 yen.
Signs that European policymakers were struggling to reach consensus on measures to contain the debt crisis weighed on euro, and its drop gained steam as falls in commodities and Asian shares dragged cross/yen pairs lower. The dollar was trading versus the Indian rupee at Rs 49.39, versus the Malaysian ringgit it was available at 3.1265 and the US currency was at 6.379 versus the Chinese yuan.
Interbank buy/sell rates for taka against dollar on Thursday: 75.94-75.95 (previous 75.90-75.95) Call Money Rates: 9.25-15.00 percent (previous 8.00-15.00 percent).
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee continued its slide, shedding 30 paisa against dollar for buying and selling at 87.40 and at 87.70, they added. The rupee, however, gained 75 versus euro for buying and selling at Rs 119.38 and Rs 119.88, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee continued to remain under pressure and was declined by 30-paisa on buying side and 40-paisa on selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Thursday.
According to the currency dealers, the dollar witnessed fresh demand that helped its appreciation in the open market. At the end of trading, the dollar was closed higher at Rs 87.60 and Rs 88.10 as its buying and selling rate against the day earlier closing of Rs 87.30 and Rs 87.70, respectively.
Similarly, the rupee maintained downward slide and was further depreciated against the pound sterling. The pound was purchased and sold at Rs 137.50 and Rs 138.20 as compared to last day closing of Rs 137.30 and Rs 138.00, respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday.
The dollar opened at Rs 87.55 (buying) and Rs 88.05 (selling) against last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 87.55 (buying) and Rs 88.05 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 137.80 (buying) and Rs 137.90 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 137.80 (buying) and Rs 137.90 (selling).
