Leather, lather garments: Chinese Apparel Group keen to increase import from Pakistan
Regional Director, South Asia, Glll Apparel Group Ltd, China, Yd Kim has shown interest to increase import of leather, leather garments and woven garments from Pakistan. During a meeting with President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mian Abrar Ahmed and members of KCCI managing committee, he said that his company was importing around $50 million leather and leather garments from Pakistan.
To a question, he said they are not fully satisfied with as far as the timely fulfilment of export orders are concerned. He said that the quality of Pakistani products was excellent but the prices were higher as compared to the same products produced in China, despite the fact that labour charges in Pakistan were 30 percent less than China. He said that his company supplied goods to USA, adding that the buyers of his company were not ready to visit Pakistan. To another question, he said that at present the company was not prepared to have joint venture with Pakistan.
