Lahore High Court here Friday adjourned to October 28 the proceedings in a petition filed against the appointment of Inspector General (IG) Prisons, Punjab Kokab Nadeem. The petitioner, DIG Mian Farooq Nazir, alleged that the respondent IG is junior to him and was illegally appointed to the office of IG during the Governor's Rule imposed on Punjab on February 25, 2009.
The petitioner pleading for his appointment to the slot contended he stands the merit for the job in terms of experience, performance, integrity and speckles career record. The petitioner further contended that after lifting of the Governor's Rule in Punjab, all transfer orders passed previously during the Rule were withdrawn and the officers were put back to their original stations sane the one about the respondent.
On the previous date of hearing, the court had issued notice to the respondent for Friday but neither the respondent in person nor anyone on his behalf turned up. The court took serious note of it and adjourned hearing of the case to October 28 observing that proceedings of the petition will be concluded on next date of hearing.
