Five people were killed Saturday in separate attacks in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, security sources told dpa. Gunmen shot dead two people in eastern Mosul, and a third was killed when clashes erupted between police and gunmen in southern Mosul. An explosive device went off in a market in northern Mosul, killing two people and damaging many shops.
Mosul, 400 kilometres north of Baghdad, is among the most ethnically and religiously diverse areas in the country, and also among the most dangerous.
