At least two persons including a minor boy were killed when a private vehicle of CID official was assaulted in the limits of Zaman Town police station on Monday evening. According to police sources, a 12-year-old boy and a man were killed while another wounded in a drive-by shooting, targeted a private car of CID Sub-Inspector Ashiq Khosa on Monday evening in the jurisdiction of Zaman Town police station.
The incident took place at Chakra Goth, Korangi where four unidentified men sprayed Khosa's vehicle with bullets, leaving two persons namely Ali Mohammad Chandio, 12 and Mutahir, 40, in a pool of blood. They said the sub-inspector Khosa remained unhurt as he was in the office when this incident occurred.
According to SI Khosa, his son Rehan and nephew Masroor were in the car but fortunately both remained safe in the attack because his driver-cum-gunman Mutahir Hussain did not stop the car, despite receiving bullet injuries. Meanwhile SSP CID Fayyaz Khan said that SI Khosa, who has been serving CID for last ten years, is an important member of CID team and added that Khosa had probed several cases of terrorism, target killings and others heinous crime cases. He said Khosa is presently working against target killers and also nabbed several target killers in the past.
According to SHO Hatim Marwat, the case was being investigated from all angles and it is premature to say anything about the motive and culprits behind the incident. He said two victims who lost their lives were later identified as Ali Mohammad Chandio, 12 and Mukhtiar, 40. The deceased lived in the same area and hailed from interior Sindh. Following the incident, all commercial and social activities were suspended while heavy contingent of law enforces rushed to the spot to avert any untoward incident.
Scores of inhabitants and the family members of the victims staged a protest demonstration over the incident and demanded to the government to take responsible persons to task. Yet another man was fallen prey to the extortionists at his shop near Super Market in the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station. The incident took place at mechanic shop situated near Super Market Malik Agha Hotel Sohrab Goth where unidentified armed men barged into shop and opened indiscriminate firing. Resultantly a 35-year-old Abdul Qayyum son of Basheer Ahmed succumbed to his injures on the spot. Police said the victim, who received extortion slip, refused to pay the same, which might have been caused for his death. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities. No case was registered till filing the report.
