The rupee performed well versus dollar on currency market on Wednesday in process of trading, dealers said. The rupee inched up in relation to the dollar for buying, picking up two paisa at 86.79 and gained one paisa for selling at 86.83, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: In the third Asian trade euro held steady, having lost some of its gloss after news that a meeting of European finance ministers had been cancelled fuelled fears that any accord from the European Union leaders' summit would disappoint.
Other signs of deep divisions between euro zone members over a wide range of issues including the size of a "haircut" on Greek bonds and how to strengthen the firepower of a bailout fund, have also worked to all but dash hopes of a strong summit deal to tackle the region's debt woes.
The yuan closed up slightly versus dollar on Wednesday, with the market remaining cautious amid growing pressure from the United States for China to do more to let its currency strengthen. Interbank buy/sell rates for taka against dollar on Wednesday: 76.10-76.16 (previous 76.08-76.13) Call Money Rates: 6.50-9.00 percent (previous 6.50-10.00 percent).
OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee recovered sharply in terms of dollar, picking up rupee.one for buying and selling at 86.80 and 87.00, they said. The rupee retained its recovery versus euro, gaining 80 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 120.16 and Rs 120.66, they said.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee improved by 10 paisa on buying and selling side against dollar in Lahore currency market on Wednesday.
According to dealers, the dollar declined to Rs 87.00 and Rs 87.40 against overnight closing Rs 87.00 and Rs 87.50 for buying and selling, respectively.
However, the pound was traded at Tuesday's rates of Rs 138.00 and Rs 139.00 on buying and selling counters, respectively, dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee remained firm against dollar at currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 87.55 (buying) and Rs 88.05 (selling) against same last rates. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 87.55 (buying) and Rs 88.05 (selling).
Pound sterling opened at Rs 137.80 (buying) and Rs 137.90 (selling) against same overnight values. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 137.80 (buying) and Rs 137.90 (selling).
