Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Aslam Raisani has said there is no insurgency in Balochistan like that of 1970 decade, adding that adequate security measures are being taken to normalise the law and order situation in the province. According to a handout issued here on Thursday, he stated this while talking to Britain Deputy High Commissioner, Francis Campbell that called on him here along-with UK Trade Director.
"There is no worsening law and order situation in Balochistan which the media have been broadcasting or printing at national and international level as the ground realties are different," the CM claimed, adding that steps are being taken to control anti-peace activities in the province. He urged the world community to recognise the role of Pakistan against war on terror as only Pakistan rendered big sacrifices in this war and suffered great losses. He added that maintenance of peace in the region is linked with vital and central role of Pakistan.
He also linked the Balochistan situation with aftermath affects of Afghan-Soviet Union war in Afghanistan. He said Sunni and Shiite sects have been residing together in the province for the last many centuries and they have no differences, but some elements are involved in hatching conspiracies to spread hatred against each other.
The CM regretted the Kharotabad incident in which five Chechan nationals including three women were killed and said the provincial government has terminated two police officials following recommendations of the Balochistan High Court Tribunal set up to conduct inquiry into the incident. Earlier, the British deputy HC told the CM that UK is interested to invest in mining, trade and other sectors in Balochistan. He added that UK Prime Minister, David Cameron has underlined the need to boost trade volume between the two countries.
