Pakistanis use a range of coping mechanism to fight electricity shortages and loadshedding of which 28 percent use emergency lights, 15 percent use UPS, 10 percent use gas lamps and 10 percent use generators, whereas 15 percent say they stop working, reveals the results of a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan.
In a survey a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces were asked the following question. "What do you do to continue your work during loadshedding?" Responding to this 15 percent use UPS, 10 percent use generators, 28 percent use emergency lights and 10 percent use gas lamps, whereas 21 percent make use of sunlight.
However, 15 percent stop working during the loadshedding and 1 percent did not give a view. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2,691 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country during October 9-15, 2011. Error margin is estimated to be approximately +2-3 percent at 95 percent confidence level.-PR
