The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis appointed around 528 people over the last three years, across the country. Secretary Overseas Pakistanis K.B Rind informed the National Assembly Standing Committee on overseas Pakistanis that met with Muhammad Jadam Mangrio in the chair here on Friday.
The meeting among others was attended by Fauzia Wahab, Dr Mahesh Kumar Malani, Rubina Saadat Qaimkhani, Abdul Qayum Khan Jatoi, Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan, Farhat Mohammad Khan, Molvi Agha Muhammad, Engineer Usman Khan Tarakai, Managing Director of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), and high officials of the Ministry. Secretary K. B Rind said overseas Pakistanis through Foreign Exchange Remittance Card (FERC) Scheme had sent 848,462,906 dollars from September 2001.
He said that in the FERC scheme OPF had issued five types of card including Silver, silver plus, gold, gold plus and platinum for overseas Pakistanis. He said those cards had been issued on the basis of remittances received in Pakistan through normal banking channels from September 2001.
Rind informed body that special facilities had been offered to the card holders including establishment separate counters at arrival and departure lounges at all international airports in the country and free issuance and renewal of passport on urgent basis. OPF Managing Director informed that solid steps had been taken to strengthen co-ordination to effectively facilitate Pakistanis.
