A meeting was held regarding the ongoing anti-dengue campaign in the province in which Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Chief Secretary, various provincial secretaries, experts and members of Sri Lankan medical team participated. The meeting reviewed in detail the activities of various departments regarding eradication of dengue virus and provision of curative facilities in hospitals.
The meeting was informed that fogging and spray in graveyards for the elimination of dengue virus has been completed, while in view of the visit of a large number of people to graveyards on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha a special fogging plan has been devised under which this exercise will again be undertaken in all the graveyards.
The bloodline project of Punjab government has been initiated and camps have been set up in various districts where the people are getting themselves registered for donating blood. On the first day of this project, registration of 1055 persons was made in Lahore. Similarly, consultants are continuing to visit private and welfare hospitals and they examined 212 dengue patients in 14 hospitals on Thursday and on their instruction, seven complicated dengue patients were shifted to teaching hospitals.
Training of family physicians as well as doctors and nurses of public and private sector hospitals is also continuing and 120 doctors including 70 general practitioners received training Thursday. Special teams are also working to review the measures against dengue virus and cleanliness arrangements in hotels, restaurants and eateries and they visited 300 different places on Thursday.
Secretary Education informed the meeting that besides holding of seminars on dengue in educational institutions special periods are also being held regularly, while boy and girl students are counselling dengue patients in various hospitals. District Co-ordination Officer Lahore informed about fogging, spray and cleanliness campaign in the provincial metropolis. The meeting was informed that on the instructions of Chief Minister, Rescue 1122 has started immediate shifting of complicated dengue patients and seven such patients were shifted to teaching hospitals on Thursday.
