Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has launched the phase-7 of expansion in its educational programmes in which one thousand schools will be partnered under its flagship Foundation Assisted Schools (FAS) programme in 36 districts. As a result of this expansion, more than 0.4 million deserving students will get quality education under the FAS.
This will increase the total number of FAS students to 12.5 lakh in 36 districts. Now, 8.5 lakh deserving students are getting free education in 1771 partner schools in 29 districts. According to spokesperson of the PEF this was stated by Chairman Punjab Education Foundation, Raja Muhammad Anwar while addressing the district co-ordination meeting of FAS partner schools of Chakwal, Khushab and Mianwali districts on Friday. PEF's Regional Co-ordinator Rawalpindi Syed Naveed Abbas, Programme Co-ordinator Iftikhar Rabbani besides management of partner schools attended the meeting.
In his address, Raja Anwar said that Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has launched the biggest ever expansion in its educational programmes to cover all the 36 districts, adding that FAS programme is very helpful in meeting the educational needs of deserving children who cannot get education because of socio-economic poverty of their families. PEF is also in the process of expanding New School Programme and Education Voucher Scheme so that the educational needs of maximum number of poor students could be met, he told.
